Grandpa Michael

Last Sunday we had a semi-surprise visit from my dad.  He had told me he might be coming, but I somehow missed his message confirming that he was coming, so his knock on the door as we were leaving for church was unexpected.  This was his first time meeting Sammy.
Grandpa Michael went to church with us, and then stayed for the rest of the day.
 We had a nice visit.
Since our zoo membership expired on September 30, we had plans to make a final trip to the zoo on Monday.  Why is it so hard to get them all to look in the same direction for the picture?  Jared seriously dislikes this spot by the flamingoes because it smells like guano.
We had to stop and say goodbye to the zoomazium.

I had promised that we could ride on the carousel as a special treat for our final zoo trip with our membership.  When Jared and Eloise got on moving horses, B insisted that he needed a moving horse, too.  I told him that he would prefer a stationary horse, but he was firm.

I was right about B not loving the moving horse.  As soon as the ride started, he started screaming.  I managed to get him off of the moving horse and onto a stationary one with a sleeping Sammy strapped onto me.  By the time the ride was over, he had finally calmed down.
We had some interaction with a bear.
The two tigers, which are usually hard to spot, were napping against the glass.
B fell down and scraped his hand.  This wasn't our first zoo injury, but it was our first time ever going to the first aid station.  He was really excited about getting an animal print band aid.  I made an executive decision to bypass a quarter of the zoo after the first aid detour.  The crew was tired.
It was nice to have a sunny day for our zoo sendoff.  This was a pretty typical day for September.  Our summer was long, sunny, and warm.

We had a lot of fun at the zoo over the last year.  Woodland Park Zoo is still one of our favorite places.
