A walk in the park

I know this post is pretty late, but on September 17, four days before he turned 13 months old, Jared started walking.  He started with just a couple of steps between mom and dad, but after 45 minutes of training he discovered that he could walk all of the way across a room.  That was all of the confidence he needed to venture greater and greater distances on his own.  Here he is at the park the week he learned to walk.

And at the temple a few days later.
He still isn't very fast, and even the slightest downhill or uphill grade sends him toppling, but he has discovered the usefulness of walking for things like escaping from mom and chasing balls and dogs.

On Monday of this week we had a visit from my Uncle Fred from South Carolina.  This is the third time we have gotten to see Uncle Fred in the past year, but the first time that we remembered to take pictures.
Uncle Fred was working in San Jose for a couple of days, so we met him in Mountain View for dinner.  It was great to see you, Uncle Fred! Let's make these frequent visits a habit.

I know this isn't a very satisfying glimpse into our lives after a long absence from the blog, but we promise more posts are coming soon.  Stay tuned!
