The Adventures of Savannah and Todd

Contrary to evidence from our blog, Todd and I haven't been completely inactive since school started. Here are a couple of things we've done. First, a first. This is Todd's first rodeo. It took a lot of persuading to get him to witness this "cruelty to animals." What he learned is that all real men are cowboys! He took this awesome action shot. I am not such a good photographer, and the steer wrestlers couldn't get their timing right with my shutter clicking, so this is almost an action shot:
For the anniversary of the day I broke my back (January 16, I think, so out of chronological order), we decided to go somewhere high up and look down to tempt fate. This is us pretending to be hard core hikers at Windy Point.

The first Saturday of spring break we decided to really be hard core and do the shortest hike possible at Sabino Canyon besides the nature walk. It turned out to be the three steepest miles (one way) we've ever attempted together. It was a stormy day, but the wind stopped and the clouds cleared just so we could get really hot and sweaty on our hike. We didn't finish the whole circuit because we started too late and got really hungry for our picnic. Here's a picture of us at our highest point.
The next day Todd left me for a couple of days to go to Chicago. I'll let him post about that. While we were tempted to just lie around and do nothing for spring break, I really wanted to get out and do something fun. I dragged Todd out to a spring training baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the Texas Rangers. The Rockies have had spring training in Tucson since time immemorial. Because of all of the advertising they do in town, Todd had always just assumed that they were a good team. This experience put an end to that illusion. The game was a little bit like watching a college team play a little league team. We stuck it out like true fans, mostly just to hear the crashing sound from the foul balls hitting the cars that parked too close to the field.

At the end of spring break, we were planning to go camping, but Todd had a meltdown over project deadlines that he hadn't thought about all week, so we had a picnic in our back yard, read the last chapter of Dracula, and watched "Van Helsing" (scary enough for me) at our makeshift campout. This looks authentic enough, right? . . . Wrong.
Yeah, we camped in our livingroom. That's how cool we are.
Looking at these all at once makes life look a little less humdrum. I'll try to be more diligent at updating on all of our exciting adventures this summer, whatever they may be.

Phat Photo

There are two purposes for this post. One is so Mom can stop staring at pregnant women wondering what I look like these days. Those are my regular jeans, if you're wondering.

The second is because Anni never sent me the picture of the color she's using for her bridesmaids' dresses. Is this shirt the right color, Anni, or do I need something darker?
